INVESTING IN PORT DEVELOPMENT – If our ports aren’t dredged periodically, they become too shallow for vessels to enter. But the funding for this (state and federal) is constantly being threatened.

In 2007, Caddy helped secure $60 million from the Oregon Legislature for the Coos Bay Channel deepening project. When completed, the deepening project will make the Port of Coos Bay the largest cargo port between San Francisco and Tacoma.

And for Oregon’s shallower ports (Bandon, Reedsport, and Florence, for example): Caddy worked to purchase a portable dredge to maintain these ports, cutting a lot of red tape.
